Two Victims Identified in the Providence Campus Shooting as Authorities Persist in Search for Killer.

Two students who died in the recent mass shooting on the university campus were honored at the start of the week – while an intensive search for their killer persisted following the freeing by local law enforcement of the only individual questioned in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was remembered as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, as stated by the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a service on Sunday.

Cook was the vice-presidency of Brown’s chapter of College Republicans of America, as the club stated. The White House press secretary also posted condolences on social media, stating: “It's indescribable. Keeping in mind her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the renowned school, according to relatives.

His name was officially acknowledged by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He had big dreams of entering the field of neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sibling Samira said in a memorial statement.

What Happened

An additional nine individuals were wounded in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported on Sunday evening that a man aged 24 arrested in a raid at a hotel about around 27 kilometers from the campus earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“We have a murderer out there,” declared Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.
